In a bid to take Ondo State Youth off social vices, a private organisation has put machinery in place to organise a Snookers Competition tagged : Ultimate 8 Ball Pool Championship in Akure.
The two -day Championship will hold between Saturday 29 to Sunday 30th this year at Oba-Ile road in Akure the State capital.
The coordinator of the competition, Mr Oluwasegun David in a chat with Sporting Hope disclosed that the championship was put in place to meaningfully engage the youths and also to take them away from evil thought.
He said the championship will attract about 32 participants within and outside Ondo State, saying players will come from Abuja,Port Harcourt, Lagos, Osun states and others .
The coordinator added that the pool game is fast developing in Nigeria, adding that Ondo State should not be left out in contributing to the development of the game.
He said: “Aside the fact that the championship will keep the youth busy it will also provide an avenue for them to peacefully interact with each other .
“We have people from all walks of life that play the game of stick and port from Executives, Directors, Political class, Drivers and any interested individual, ultimately the game will bring these calibre of people together irrespective of their position in the society.
“Pool game is not strenuous sports but you will be exercising your body because you will be moving round”.
The winner of the championship will go home with cash prize of N500,000, while the first runner up get N100,000, second runner up will coast home with N50,000 fourth position will get N10,000 and the best female player in the championship will go home with N30,000.e
