UNICEF to support women, children devt

The representatives of the United Nations Children’s Fund, UNICEF, yesterday assured the Ondo state government of their readiness to give necessary technical support, especially in the area of women and children development.
The UNICEF representatives led by Dr. Tushar Range, the new Chief of Field Office, Akure, gave the assurance during a courtesy visit to the state Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu in his office.
Dr. Range specifically lauded governor Akeredolu for his various women and children-oriented programmes and policies, including the school feeding programme for school children to ensure good upbringings.
According to him, all the good initiatives of the government targeting at women and children development will be supported by the UNICEF to ensure its sustainability.
He also encouraged the Governor to continue to support exclusive breastfeeding for new born babies within the first six months to ensure brain development and heathy growth.
Dr. Range who also applauded governor Akeredolu for his free school shuttle conveying schools children to and fro, assuring the Governor of effective collaboration to sustain his social policies and programmes.
Welcoming the UNICEF representatives, governor Akeredolu said the state has benefited immensely from robust relationship and collaboration with UNICEF.
