The Management of the University of Medical Sciences, (UNIMED), Ondo has commiserated with the family of Chief Oludolapo Akinkugbe on the transition to glory of both the matriarch and patriarch of the family.
According to a release by the University Public Relations Officer, Isaac Oluyi said Chief Olu Akinkugbe, with the apparent support of his wife, was the visionary who conceived the laudable idea behind the Olu Akinkugbe Pharmacy Education Trust (OAPET), a trust established to build a world-class Faculty of Pharmacy at the University of Medical Sciences (UNIMED) in Ondo, Nigeria.
He was one of Nigeria’s greatest pharmacists committed to providing top-tier pharmaceutical education.
“This vision became a reality right before his eyes as Olu Akinkugbe Faculty of Pharmacy took off in 2024/2025 academic session.”
Expressing the magnitude of the death at this time, the Vice-Chancellor of UNIMED, Professor Ebunoluwa Adejuyigbe said, “we have lost rare gems whose legacies were deeply woven into the fabric of the pharmaceutical profession in Nigeria.
“We have lost strong pillars of support for the Faculty of Pharmacy at UNIMED. We have lost committed friends of UNIMED.”
The University prayed for the repose of their souls as it said they will be sorely missed.
