UNIMED offers free dental check-up-

In  line with its mission to expand access to quality healthcare services, the Dental Clinic of the University of Medical Sciences, (UNIMED) Ondo has commenced free dental check-up for members of the public.

The Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof. Friday Okonofua made this known while leading other management staff of the institution on a  tour of the magnificent Dental Centre at UNIMED Teaching Hospital, Ondo.

He said the dental clinic with the newly installed state of the art facilities is designed to provide services such as scaling and polishing, fillings, orthodontic treatment (braces), oral and maxillofacial surgical procedures and  dental prostheses among others.

Speaking earlier, the Acting Head of the Department of Child Dental Health of the University ,Dr. Olabimpe Soyoye stressed the importance of dental health.

Soyoye explained that ”Your mouth is the gateway to your body, hence the need to take adequate care of all the structures in the mouth.

She added that the manifestation of most of the diseases affecting the body is first seen in the mouth, adding that failure to pay attention to oral health can have negative influence on the quality of life.

Soyoye further added that the free dental check-up organized in conjunction with the UNIMED Teaching Hospital has commenced and is expected to last till March 8, 2019.

The VC’s team received free check-up along with other members of the public who are already benefiting from the programme during the tour.
