The recently passed University of Medical Sciences Teaching Hospital Complex, (UNIMEDTH) bill by the Ondo State House of Assembly  has been described as welcome development.

The Chairman of the Medical Advisory Committee of UNIMEDTH, Dr Michael Gbala stated this in an interview with The Hope in the school premises, saying this is what they have been hoping and praying for, while thanking the State government led by Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu for the laudable and historic event.

He said establishing a teaching hospital is not for fun, but to give the best of healthcare services to the people of the state.

Gbala noted that establishment of a teaching hospital guarantees qualitative tertiary health services delivery to the people.

According to him,  medical  students and other people in the health line will have the privilege of being trained in such hospital.

He stressed that the state now has a hospital that is fully prepared to deliver standardised healthcare services to the people while providing opportunity for  research.

The Chairman described research as the bedrock of any development and the link to the future.
