UNIMEDTH highlights importance of pharmacological research in clinical practice

The University of Medical Science Teaching Hospital (UNIMEDTH), Ondo, has emphasized the critical link between pharmacological research and clinical practice in advancing the healthcare sector.
The Chief Medical Director (CMD) of UNIMEDTH, Dr. Michael Gbala, made this statement during a meeting with the hospital’s Pharmacy Department in Ondo.
“As part of our commitment to staff capacity-building and effective service delivery, we must focus on the crucial connection between pharmacological research and clinical practice,” Gbala stated.
He urged the department to take the lead in identifying innovative solutions to drug-related challenges in healthcare.
The CMD commended the pharmacy team for their dedication to patient care and encouraged them to continue striving for excellence through research, teamwork, and professional development.
He further assured them of the management’s unwavering support in equipping the department with modern tools and resources for optimal service delivery.
Gbala also tasked the Pharmacy Department with developing a plan to provide medications to in-patients at more affordable rates compared to external vendors.
He emphasized the importance of making healthcare services, including medications, accessible and affordable to all patients while encouraging the department to explore cost-effective solutions without compromising quality.
