The University of Medical Sciences Teaching Hospital/Specialist Hospital (UNIMEDTH/SH), Akure, celebrated the arrival of its first baby of the year with gifts and heartfelt congratulations.

The baby boy, born at 6:39 a.m. to Mr and Mrs Toyin Abayomi, was hailed as a symbol of hope and joy for the year ahead.

Speaking at the event on Wednesday, Acting Medical Director, Dr Adesina Akintan, praised the hospital’s medical team for their dedication and reaffirmed UNIMEDTH/SH’s commitment to delivering outstanding maternal and child healthcare services alongside quality care across all specialties.

Dr Akintan highlighted the importance of exclusive breastfeeding and urged parents to prioritise the proper upbringing of their children.

He also emphasised the pivotal role of fathers in supporting and nurturing their families.

In a spirit of generosity, the hospital presented gifts not only to the first baby of the year, but also to other babies born on the same day.

Babies delivered on Christmas Day and the last day of 2024 were also honoured with thoughtful presents.

Grateful parents expressed their appreciation for the hospital’s gesture, pledging to ensure the well-being of their children.
