University status excites Adeyemi Provost, Alumni

In line with the present administration’s commitment to ensure continuity in governance and policy consistency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved Adeyemi College of Education, Ondo city to be converted to the Federal University of Education.

 The Assistant Director of Press and Public Relations in the Federal Ministry of Education, Mrs Obilor-Duru Augustina Okechi, stated this in a press release.

The president approved the staggered establishment of the four Colleges of Education to be converted to Federal Universities of Education, two Federal Universities of Agriculture, two Federal Universities of Medical and Health Science, and five Colleges of Education.

 The approved institutions are the Federal University of Medical and Health Science, Kwale, Delta State; Federal University of Agriculture, Mubi, Adamawa State; Adeyemi College of Education, Ondo; Alvan Ikoku Federal College of Education, Owerri, Imo State; Federal College of Education, Ilawe Ekiti; Federal College of Education, Ididep, Ibiono, Akwa Ibom and Federal College of Education (Technical), Kebbi State.

The release further said that establishing and converting the named institutions is a further demonstration of President Tinubu’s Education for the Renewed Hope agenda and will help improve access to tertiary education in the country.

Reacting, the Provost of Adeyemi College of Education, Dr Samuel Akintunde, expressed joy and happiness over the news of the institution’s approval to run as a University.

 Akintunde said the effort of the National Executive Council, COESU, NASU, and Osemawe in-Council over converting the college to a University has yielded significant results.

 The National President of the college alumni association, Dr Festus Oyebade, who pledged to work to actualise the dream of the University status, said that the good news was a welcome development and was long overdue.

 Oyebade appreciated President Tinubu for approving the college as a full-fledged university.

 He, therefore, congratulates the entire members of the Alumni, COESU, NASU, students, and management for this outstanding achievement.
