Upgrade of Ondo NYSC camp begins

By Saheed Ibrahim

Ondo State Governor, Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has commenced the preliminary upgrade of infrastructure and facilities at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Ikare-Akoko.

The Governor’s team, led by the Senior Special Adviser on Infrastructure, Lands, and Housing, Pastor Joseph Ayoade Babalola, arrived at the camp to assess the situation, stating that the Governor is passionate about the Scheme.

The Senior Aide to the Governor, who hinted that the government would construct new hostel blocks, confirmed that the restructuring and facelift would not take much time, as the Governor is keen on making life more comfortable for the Corps members.

The team lead, who encouraged the Corps members to leave a legacy of good character at their various places of primary assignment, said that they would enjoy the Sunshine State because of the hospitality of the citizens and residents.

While describing the NYSC Scheme as laudable and vibrant, he admonished the Corps members to establish their relevance in their host communities and abide by the core values of the Scheme.

Pastor Babalola, who observed the mandatory service year in Katsina State almost thirty years ago, said that the lessons learned during that period have shaped his life and made him who he is today.

Welcoming the Governor’s team, the State Coordinator, Mr. Sam Amaramiro Pepple, reminded the Corps members of the commitment Governor Aiyedatiwa made to upgrade the camp facilities during his last visit to the orientation course exercise.

Peple, full of appreciation for the Governor’s efforts, said that successive Corps members would continue to remember the good works of the Governor.
