Valedictory: Dream big, influence society, Mabest students charged

Students have been charged to dream big, plan and be dedicated in order to influence the society positively.
Deputy Vice Chancellor Development, Federal University of Technology (FUTA) Prof. Phillip Oguntade gave this charge at the 4th and 5th Valedictory Service of Mabest Academy in Akure yesterday.

Prof. Oguntade who charged the students to be responsible to their lives noted that as the future of the country, they must add values to themselves and the society at large.
Delivering the Valedictory Lecture title, “After High School, What Next?”, the guest lecturer and Registrar FUTA, Mr Richard Arifalo advised the students to be determined and be committed to their careers in order to be the best in their chosen endeavours.

He tasked the students to be prepared as ‘preparation comes before manifestation”, stressing that nobody becomes what they are by mistake but by preparation and their dedication to excel.

The FUTA Registrar also harped on the need to dream big and never lower their expectations, saying they must also avoid dream killers such as fear, lack of ethics, toxic peer influences and indiscipline.

While giving his charge, the Head of Department, Project Management Technology, FUTA Dr Olalekan Jesuleye encouraged the students to dream big, adding that they should avail themselves for scholarships and other programmes that would aid their development.
The Associate Professor further advised them to be of good manners in words and in actions.

The Chairman Board of Directors of the school, Pastor Mrs Elizabeth Odeyemi advised the students to exhibit the moral virtues and skills inculcated in them to excel and change the society for good.
While stressing the need for them not to move away from God, she stressed the need for them to avoid any negative peer influence that could damage their lives.

While the Students’ President, Miss Olubukola Lawal was crowned the Best Graduating Student of Mabest Academy, The Best Graduating Pupil went to Akinbowa Praise Oluwatamilore while Master Tolulope Adenitan won Prof. Adebowale’s Yoruba Merit Award
