Vehicle crushes AAUA student to death

A100-level female student of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko, Esther Ayokunmi Yusuf has been crushed to death by a moving vehicle after she fell off a commercial motorcycle in the heart of the town very close the market.

Eyewitnesses account revealed that , two commercial motorcycles, including the one conveying  Ayokunmi had a head on collision and  the deceased  fell off on the bike, while an oncoming vehicle which  ran over her, crushed her to death and   ran away.

The other passenger of the second bike also had a serious injury and was rushed to the Federal Medical Centre, Owo for medical attention.

The news of the death of Ayokunmi did not go down well  with the students of the institution  who   protested  the ugly  situation. But it took the intervention of community leaders and the Divisional Police Officer Akungba Akoko Police Division, SP Shakiru Ajibola, to calm the nerves of the protesting students.

A student of the University, Olatunji Abudulahi advocated for speed checks particularly around the market place in the town, adding that  relocating of market to a better and safe area needed to be considered.

Meanwhile, the DPO has held meetings with members of NURTW and the Okada riders to counsel their members on the need to always limit their speed within the town.

He warned motorcyclists who refused to register their bikes  and have valid papers   to do so, or else, they would be dealt accordingly.

According to him, those without valid papers hide under that guise   to commit crimes.

The late student, according to a source is the only child of her mother and very close to her family.
