The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State yesterday hailed the judgment of the State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal, describing it as victory for the people of the State, who on October 10 last year, cast their votes.
The party in a statement signed by its Publicity Secretary, Alex Kalejaye congratulated its Caretaker Committee Chairman, Ade Adetimehin, its candidate for the election, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, running mate, Mr. Lucky Ayedatiwa, and all the supporters of APC in Ondo State saying they have all been vindicated by the sound judgment.
“We commend the Tribunal for being dispassionate, and objective in considering all the arguments, and counter- arguments assembled before it, while the trial lasted.
The party further commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), for sticking to what was fair and reasonable.
The party wondered how a candidate that scored three over 18 in an examination could expect to be declared winner, adding that “the People’s Democratic Party wanted victory through the backdoor.”
It advised the main opposition party to accept the judgment in good faith, and join hands with the ruling party for the purpose of fast tracking economic and infrastructural development of the State.
In his remark, All Progressive Congress (APC) gubernatorial aspirant, Mr Sola Iji commended the election tribunal.
Iji said the judgment at the tribunal would give the governor and his team as well as the party the opportunity to now face the act of governance.
According to him:” This will now give him and his team the opportunity to face governance and not be distracted.
The APC chieftain said Akeredolu’s re election would have come with the promises to deliver more than he did in his first term, adding that he expects that he will deliver more to the people of the state.
