Visa agent arraigned over fraud

The Ondo State Security Network Agency, popularly known as the Amotekun Corps, has arraigned a man, Adelodi Samson, for alleged visa fraud.
The defendant was brought before Magistrate Damilola Sekoni, on a two-count charge of fraud.
The prosecutor, Ajiboye Obadasa, disclosed that the alleged offences occurred sometimes in January and October 2024.
Obadasa informed the court that the defendant obtained the sum of N3,000,000, from one Oke Oladele, under false pretence to secure him a Vietnam visa and ticket, which he failed to deliver.
Samson was also accused of fraudulently converting the money to his personal use.
The alleged offences contravened Sections 390 (9) and 419 of the Criminal Code, Cap 37 Vol. 1, Laws of Ondo State, 2006.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to all charges.
Magistrate Sekoni granted Samson bail, in the sum of N1million with two sureties in the same amount.
The court specified that the sureties must reside within its jurisdiction, deposit N200,000, provide an affidavit of means, and submit two passport photographs.
The defendant was unable to meet the bail requirements and was remanded in Amotekun custody.
The case was adjourned till February 28, 2025, for further hearing.
