Visa scam lands man in court

For  allegedly reneging his promise of securing a Canadian Visa for his client,  40-year old man, Wasiu Solaja has been remanded by the  Magistrates’ Court sitting  in Modakeke, Osun State.

The accused person was alleged of committing  the offence in April, 2019 at Ogunsua Palace road, Modakeke, Ile-Ife.

The prosecutor, Inspector  Glory, Ona  told the court that the accused person conspired with others still at large to defraud one Joel  Kolawole , with a promise to secure a Canadian Visa for him.

According to the prosecutor, the accused person obtained the sum of N260, 000 from the  complainant  to secure the  Visa, he knew he could not issue.

The offence,  according to the prosecution,  contravened sections 383, 390(9), 419 and 516 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Osun, 2002.

The accused person, who was not legally represented pleaded not guilty to the three-count  of conspiracy, stealing and fraud.

Magistrate Abimbola Famuyide, who discountenanced the plea of the accused,  asked him to come  before the court with a written application for bail.

Famuyide ordered  the remand of the defendant in  Ile-Ife prison and  adjourned till July 15, 2019 for hearing.

    This kind of work must stop urgently to save more people and to avoid more scammer, the government make also what penalty for this kind of person.
