Volleyball: Ondo defeats Bauchi, sets quarterfinal tie with Host

Ondo State volleyball team on Wednesday defeated Bauchi State 3-0 in the opening game of the volleyball event at the ongoing 22nd National Sports Festival in Ogun State.
The Coach Afuye-tutored side won every set of the tie with scores of 25-19, 27-25, and 25-19.
The team’s Libero and national volleyball player, Afun Idowu, in a chat with newsmen in Abeokuta, attributed the victory to determination.
“We are very happy with the victory. This is our first match, and with this success, we are already in the quarterfinal.
“We are facing the host team (Ogun State) tomorrow, and we are battle-ready for the match. Our morale is very high, and we are very optimistic ahead of the game.”
Meanwhile, Team Ogun has secured another gold medal at the ongoing 2025 Gateway Games, with Adeyemi Ololade emerging victorious in the Traditional Dart Board (TDB) female category.

The win reinforces Ogun State’s dominance in indigenous sports and highlights the talent within its grassroots sports development programmes.
The final event saw Ololade display precision and composure, outclassing her opponent from Kwara State to claim the top prize.
Her victory has been celebrated across the state, with fans and officials hailing her as a testament to Ogun’s rich sporting culture.
In swimming, Omolola Tobiloba won another gold for Team Ogun in the 800m freestyle event.
Tobiloba, known as “Aqua-woman,” joined Adeyemi Ololade as gold medalists today.
Tobiloba said in a chat with newsmen that her hard work and prayers paid off.
The duo of Tobiloba and Ololade are expected to receive an instant cash reward of 2.5 million naira each from the Ogun State Government.
