The  Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development in Ondo State, Mr Saka Yusuf-Ogunleye, has urged youths in the state to vote en mass for the All Progressives Congress (APC), in general elections.

Yusuf-Ogunleye made the call in Akure during an interactive session with youths in his Oba-Ile community of Akure North Local Government Area.

The session, a continuation of bringing governance to doorsteps of the people, was the second in the series, following the earlier one held with women in the area earlier in the year.

Yusuf-Ogunleye urged the youths to intensify door-to-door campaign for the party to ensure it emerges victorious in the coming elections.

The commissioner maintained that such meeting was necessary, so as, to intensify efforts of winning the elections at all levels for the party.

“When we started the street meeting, it was designed to interact with our members and the community at large. The people are the most important.

“We cannot afford not to interact with them. By so doing, you inform them of government’s efforts to better their lots; they will praise, abuse you and share their problems.

“Position is temporary. All of us will be remembered for what we do when we have the  opportunities,” he said.

He thanked the people for giving APC block vote in the last elections, saying, he is expecting a repeat of such performance in the coming elections.

“You did us proud in last elections and I am grateful for your efforts.

“We must repeat that feat come February 16 and March 2.

“Just as victory was attained in 2016 for Governor Akeredolu, again we have to work harder for Senator Tayo Alasoadura, Mr Afe Olowookere and Dr Faleye to win convincingly. We cannot afford to fail,” he said.

The Akure North Caretaker Chairman, Mr Bankole Ogbesetore and the party’s House of Assembly candidate for the Local Government, Mr Abiodun Faleye also addressed the youths.

Faleye said in advanced countries, politicians are people’s servants.

“I have come to duplicate what I saw in the US, where I have been living for 30 years. When voted in, I am going to serve the people.

“I hate the sight of jobless youths. We intend to do something about it.”

Also addressing the youths, APC Ondo Central Senatorial candidate, Senator  Alasoadura, urged them to work round the clock towards making APC win convincingly on  February 16 and March 2.

Alasoadura described youths as “an integral part of the society,” which should not be relegated to the background.

“The young ones are the leaders of tomorrow. They are the most important segment of every society. Any program or activity that excludes them is bound to fail”.
