‘We are committed to 33 LCDAs’

Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa’s week was marked by a series of impactful engagements, reinforcing his administration’s commitment to grassroots development, economic growth, security, and religious harmony.
From the swearing-in of newly elected local government officials to major infrastructural projects and strategic meetings with traditional rulers and religious leaders, the governor demonstrated his resolve to strengthen governance across all sectors.
The week began with the inauguration of local government chairmen and vice chairmen, a crucial step in deepening democratic governance at the grassroots.
The Governor charged the newly sworn-in officials to align with his administration’s New Development Agenda ‘O’ Datiwa, O’ Dirorun’ (OUR EASE) and work towards improving the lives of their constituents.
He also reaffirmed the state’s commitment to the 33 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) and commended the Ondo State Independent Electoral Commission (ODIEC) for conducting a free and fair election.
On Thursday, Governor Aiyedatiwa commissioned the newly completed Secretariat of the Ondo State Council of Obas in Akure. This project underscored his administration’s dedication to the traditional institution, recognising its role in fostering peace and development.
In his address, he assured traditional rulers of continued government support, while monarchs, including the Deji of Akure and the Olowo of Owo, praised his leadership for prioritising the welfare of royal fathers.
Still on Thursday, the Governor unveiled the State Investment House, a landmark project designed to enhance the ease of doing business and attract investors. He paid tribute to his predecessor, the late Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, for initiating the project and reaffirmed his administration’s resolve to complete all inherited projects.
The Governor also handed over new firefighting trucks to the state’s fire service, emphasising the importance of equipping emergency responders to protect lives and property.
On Friday, in response to improved security conditions, Governor Aiyedatiwa lifted the curfew imposed on Owo community, allowing residents to resume their normal activities. He thanked security agencies, traditional rulers, and other stakeholders for their roles in restoring peace.
Later in the day, he joined Muslim leaders at a Special Jum’at Service at the Akure Central Mosque, where he reiterated his commitment to religious harmony and inclusive governance. The Chief Imam of Akure, Alhaji Abdulhakeem Yayi-Akorede, commended the Governor’s developmental strides, particularly in infrastructure and his support for the Muslim Welfare Board.
The week’s activities culminated in a visit to Araromi Seaside in Ilaje Local Government area on Saturday, as part of efforts to expand the State’s tourism and investment potentials.
Governor Aiyedatiwa highlighted the economic opportunities in the riverine region, revealing that investors, including La Campagne Tropicana, are already in discussions with the state government.
He reassured residents of infrastructural improvements, including roads construction and the development of a deep-sea port to boost economic activities.
In addition, he announced the awarding of contracts for healthcare facilities across all 203 wards of the state and assured that newly recruited teachers would receive their appointment letters after his inauguration.
