The Roman Catholic Diocese of Ondo on has declared that only 200 students will be admitted into the Aquinas College Akure and St Louis Secondary School, Ondo, recently returned to the church by the Ondo state government.

A statement signed by the Director of Education, Very. Rev. Fr. R. Adesulu,  and  secretary, Fr. Oddiah Clement, said the decision was to reduce the pressure of overpopulation on the schools.

The statement reads: “On behalf of his Excellency, Most Rev. Dr. Jude Arogundade, the Director of Education, Catholic Diocese of Ondo, Very Rev. Fr. Adesulu has directed that I inform the house that Aquinas College Akure and St. Louis Secondary School, Ondo aside two primary schools have been released to our diocese.

“This of course is a welcome development towards the advancement of education in our dear State, Ondo.

“We appreciate all those who worked tirelessly in making this happen. May God reward them.

“The process of awareness and admission are in place. Thus, we enjoin that this information gets to the parishioners at our Masses.

“For proper management and efficiency, only 200 students will be admitted as against about 1,000 students hitherto admitted in such schools and we shall maintain 40 students in a class as against 80 students and above previously practiced.
