‘We ‘ll consider CPS report  for  implementation’

The chairman of Ondo State Oil Producing Area Development Commission (OSOPADEC) ,Mr Gbenga Edema has assured that the report on Contributory Pension Scheme(CPS) for the workforce of the commission will be considered for implementation.

The chairman gave the assurance while receiving the Joint Technical Committee’s report on the CPS in his office in Oba-Ile, Akure.

Edema, who affirmed that the workforce is the engine room of any organisation declared that the management of OSOPADEC will continue to take workers’ welfare as priority, so as to achieve the set goals.

While expressing the readiness of the commission to collaborate with Pension Commission (PENCOM) to secure the future of the workers after retirement, he commended the committee for a job well done.

His words:“Many workers are afraid of retirement because they do not know what the future holds for them, hence the need to always key into whatever will be beneficial to employees in the future.

“It will be ignorant of any employer to think that if you do not treat your workers well, you can achieve meaningful result or get the best out of them, That is why issues of gratuity,pension,health insurance scheme among others are germane.Since the CPS is to their advantage, we are ready to key into it”,he averred.

The Director General of PENCOM, Mr Olowosuko,  said Jaiyeola workers’  welfare is key to the growth of any organisation  adding  that the commission has taken a giant step towards securing the future of the labour.

The Permanent Secretary of the Commission, Dr Victor Koledoye, commended the initiative, adding that he has no doubt in his mind that everything within the capacity of the management will be done to ensure the success of the scheme.

Responding, the Chairman of Amalgamated Union of Public Corporation,Civil Service, Technical and Recreation Service Employee (AUPCTRE) of the commission, Mr Wole Ehinmowo said that the implementation of the report  would  go a long way in suppressing the agitation of workers, stating that the previous scheme adopted had some lapses.
