As part of efforts to give back to the society, the Lions International, District 404 A-4 has restated its commitment to impact the lives of the less privileged.
The District Governor of 404 A-4, Lion Dr. Mrs Kofoworola Jegede stated this during an advocacy visit to The Hope on Thursday.
The District was recently bifurcated from District 404A-1, Nigeria and Lion Dr Kofoworola Jegede, has since July 1, 2023 assumed duties as the Pioneer District Governor.
The International President, Lion Dr Patti Hill, presented her with the insignia of office at a colourful swearing-in ceremony at the city of Boston in the United States of America on July 11, during the Year 2023 International Convention.
She said the visit was aimed at intimating the company with the vision of the District and partner to make life worth living for the downtrodden in the society.
She noted that there will be a presentation of the club at the Ondo State International Cultural and Event Centre very soon.
The event according to her will feature series of events like Lions charity, funfare and jamboree; visits to strategic partners in the service to humanity project, public presentation of the District Governor and fund raising for service projects in aid of the less privileged from August 31 to September 2, 2023.
She said the acronym of the club, which is Liberty, Intelligence, Our Nations’ safety has been the driving force of the club.
Jegede while soliciting for The Hope’s partnership said, the club imbibe good ethics and attitude by coming together to help the community, state and the nation at large.
She enjoined staff of Owena Press to join the club, stating that it is not a religious organisation and also devoid of political affiliations.
The District Governor harped on the need for youths to inculcate the habit of reading newspaper in order to promote reading culture.
She said in developed countries, aside the prominence of social media, newspaper still count.
Responding, the Chairman/Editor-in-Chief, Sir Ademola Adetula who congratulated Lion Jegede on her election, wished her a successful tenure.
He assured of the company’s support in projecting the programmes of the club, noting that he must share in the success of the club.
He equally urged the Lions International to support the company through their patronage in order to foster a good working relationship.
