We ‘ll make Akure fortress for Sunshine Stars/Queens, Supporters club chairman elect promises

The newly elected Chairman of Sunshine Stars/Queens supporters club ,Mr Adeboye Babatunde has promised to work with other stakeholders to make Akure stadium a fortress for the teams.

He added that the supporters club will be made attractive to accommodate more prominent personality within and outside the state, which he said would make the team’s support base strong.

He said: We will “work hard to mobilise more support for the clubs in the coming season, we will ensure more members are recruited from both government and private sectors to make us more formidable.

Babatunde stated this after he was declared winner of the election conducted at the Ondo State Sports complex ,Akure by the chairman of the electoral committee, Gbenga Ajisafe.

He added that he would work with all the media houses in the state to help sensitising our supporter on why they should eschew thuggery at match venue.

 According to him, “the new executive will make the supporters club more formidable, so that it will become a brand to be reckoned with in the state.”

Babatunde garnered 43 votes to defeat, Mr Falowo Peter Olawunmi who had 15 votes, while Mr Afuye Oluwashina emerged Vice Chairman after defeated Babatunde Fadoyin 43 to 15 votes and Jide Idowu John edged Falowo Bosun with 42 to 18 votes to return elected as the new welfare officer.

The Gbenga Ajisafe-led electoral committee also returned Julius Oluwaseun Adedayo as Secretary, Odubiyi Aramide Betty, Financial Secretary, Busari Ademola Samuel – PRO elected unopposed.

Other Exco members elected unopposed are Aladaye Jeminat – Organising Secretary, Oluranti Olugbenga – Treasurer, Adetosoye Abayomi – Chief Whip, Ijalade Michael Idowu – Assistant Secretary.

Ondo State FA Secretary, Ibukun Adetoyinbo, General Coordinator of Sunshine Stars, Mr Tokunbo Akinyelure and Sunshine Stars Media Officer, Mr Chris Okunnuwa were on ground as observers during the exercise.

The newly elected officers will be sworn-in a week’s time to replace the Mr Felix Olowa-led Exco.
