We won’t condone indolence, HoS charges workers

Ondo State Head of Service, HoS, Mr Kayode Ogundele has enjoined workers to wake up to their responsibilities as  government won’t condone indolence from anyone in 2023.

Ogundele stated this after an unscheduled inspection visit to some offices in the Governor’s office in Akure on Monday.

The HoS said the idea was to ensure officers were on their desks and attending to their duties as expected.

Ogundele expressed satisfaction with the conduct of workers during the inspection, and called on those who were found wanting to brace up.

According to him, the unscheduled visit will be a continuous one and would extend to all ministries and extra-ministerial departments in the state.

Ogundele stated that the execution of  government’s policies and programmes lay on the shoulders of civil servants.

He said that the implementation of the government’s programmes in 2023 should be driven faster than before.

Also speaking, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Establishment and Training, Mrs Funke Dare-Atunse, who accompanied the Head of Service on the inspection, said during short of excellent service delivery would be expected from the workers in 2023.

The permanent secretary, who lauded the state government’s attention to the welfare of the workforce, said there was need for civil servants to reciprocate the government’s gesture by their diligent service.

One of the officers, Mr Desmond Alabi who spoke with newsmen, applauded the visit by the Head of Service, saying it would serve as a morale booster to the workers.
