A renowned real estate expert, Dr Olabode Akingbesote, has urged investors and individuals to embrace land banking, a strategy involving the purchase of undeveloped land in anticipation of long-term value appreciation.

Akingbesote made the call during an exclusive interview with Weekend Hope in Ondo.

According to him, land banking is a highly lucrative venture, often regarded as the secret behind the success of many in the property business, offering a route to financial prosperity.

“Many successful real estate investors made their fortunes through heavy investments in land banking. While others were quick to criticise, we were taking calculated risks, and today, they are nowhere to be found,” he remarked.

The Ondo-based estate agent further underscored the long-term advantages of land banking, which he described as a forward-thinking investment approach.

He emphasised the need for wealth creation as a means to drive national development, stressing that opportunities lie in buying land in strategic locations, such as near transportation hubs and in suburbs once considered to be unpromising.

Akingbesote concluded by highlighting the potential of land banking not only as a wealth-building tool but also as a means of creating job opportunities for the masses.
