Welder docked for stealing N1.2m aluminum

A 22-year-old man, Hammed Tijani , has been arraigned before an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrate’s Court over alleged shop breaking and stealing.

Tijani, who claimed to be a Welder along Immigration office, Ado-Ekiti, is standing trial on two counts of shop breaking and stealing.

The prosecutor, Inspector Sodiq Adeniyi, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on November.4, 2022 at about 12:00 a.m, opposite Immigration office Odo- Ado in Ado-Ekiti.

Adeniyi alleged that the defendant unlawfully broke and entered into the Aluminum shop of one Ajibola Bamikole.

He said the defendant stole aluminum rods, rubbers, keys, glasses, glass cutter and other aluminum accessories worth N1.2million, belonging to the complainant.

According to him, the offences contravene Sections 324 and 302(1) (a) of the Criminal Laws of Ekiti State, 2021.

The prosecutor asked the court for an adjournment to enable him study the case file and present his witnesses.

The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges preferred against him.

His Counsel, Mrs Adunni Olanipekun, urged the court to grant him bail on liberal terms.

Chief Magistrate Dolapo Babalogbon, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum.

He said the sureties  must be residents within the jurisdiction of the court and provide two passport photograph.

She adjourned the case till April 12 2023 for hearing.
