‘We’re advancing Nigeria with quality education’

The Pro-chancellor of Achiever University, Owo, Dr Bode Ayorinde has said the institution is on the right path towards giving the nation the best in terms of quality education.

Ayorinde made this known, during a combined 8th and 9th convocation press conference held at the institution’s premises.

He said the citadel of learning which is among the first 10 private institutions in the country has put in place structures to make it compete with institutions both within and outside the country through linkages and collaborations with institutions in the USA and Kenya.

Ayorinde enthused that the institution has also adopted Academic Staff Union of University’s (ASUU) salary for its staffers, saying if the salary of the lecturers are compromised, then the quality of education too will be compromised.

Earlier, the Vice Chancellor, Prof Tunji Ibiyemi has disclosed that about 400 students will be graduating in the combined 2017/2018 and 2018/2019 session.

Of these 400, twenty two students will be graduating with first class honors degree,217 with second class, upper division, 130 with second class lower division and the remaining 31 are in the third class honors division.

He said the National University Commission (NUC) has granted the school approval to commence post graduate programmes in M.Sc Accounting, M.Sc/MBA Business Administration, and M.Sc Computer Science adding that the first set totalling about 48 will be presented with award of Masters of Science in the three programmes.

While enumerating some of the achievement of the school, he said” it is worthy of mention that an ultra modern 810 bed space hostel accommodation for female has just been added in line with our continual physical infrastructure development drive.”

He also disclosed that illustrious Nigerians will be conferred with honorary doctorate degrees, they are the Former Speaker, House of Representative, Hon Yakubu Dogara, Governor of Sokoto State, Hon. Aminu Tambuwal, Bishop of Roman Catholic Diocese of Sokoto, Bishop Mathew Kukah and the Vice Chairman, Channels Media Group, Mrs Olusola Momoh.
