Ondo State government have said that it would continue to implement innovative ideas and policies that meet the aspirations of people and support the growth of businesses within the state.
“The realities of the time have placed on us the responsibility of creating and harnessing opportunities through improved private sector participation to accelerate economic growth, create more jobs for our teeming youths and enhance our revenue-generating capacity.”
State Commissioner for Commerce, Industry and Cooperative Service, Deaconess. Lola Fagbemi said this during the ministry prayer and award programme to start year 2023 in Akure.
According to her, “The present administration under the leadership of Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu has done a lot to improve the business environment through the implementation of business-friendly policies to improve the ease of doing business in the state. We’re also providing incentives and remain committed to infrastructural development and renewal.
“In 2022, the ministry was given N200 million as target but we were able to generate N255 million and this year 2023, our target is N340 million. It is achievable and a collective target.
“Our achievements in 2022 was possible because of God through commitment and hard work on the part of our staffs, so I want to appreciate them and urge them to do more so as to achieve the 2023 target.”
The commissioner said the Akeredolu’s administration would continue to maintain the status of a committed business crusader, adopting intentional policies and steady focus to encourage entrepreneurs in line with global best practices.
“The administration is creating public values for entrepreneurs in an environment that is becoming more unstable, uncertain, complex and ambiguous due to world economic challenges.
“As a ministry, we would continue to encourage training and retraining of staffs to improve our output.
“I want to appeal to market men and women in the state to pay up their fees as at when due and depend on God for direction in the new year.”
Meanwhile, Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Mrs. Funmilola Akinola assured the state government of the ministry’s commitment to work closely with the government towards achieving its vision for the state.
She commended the commissioner for her leadership qualities, thanked the staffs for their supports in the outgone year and solicited for more cooperation and commitment in 2023.
Awards were given to best revenue officers by the ministry to encourage them do their best in achieving the 2023 target.
