We’re committed to securing better future for Ondo students —Akeredolu

Ondo State Governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, has stressed that his administration will continue to pursue educational development and a better future for Ondo students at all levels.

The Governor, who was speaking at the flag-off for the presentation of two hundred million naira (N200m) worth of bursary and scholarship awards to students of the State in tertiary institutions across the country, said that education remains a key aspect of his administration’s vision to secure better future for the youths.

Represented by his Special Adviser on Union Matters and Special Duties, Mr. Dare Aragbaiye, Akeredolu no efforts would be spared towards promoting education advancement at all levels in the state.

He enjoined the students not to allow the current challenges facing the nation to derail their vision of attaining academic excellence.

The Governor maintained that his government had shown determination in the education sector through various programmes, interventions and Infrastructural projects across the 18 council areas since coming on board in 2017.

He stressed that in line with the REDEEMED Agenda, his administration will continue to sustain efforts at promoting quality education in the state.

Also speaking, the State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Mr. Femi Agagu, said the disbursement of bursary and scholarship awards to the beneficiaries, despite economic challenges in Nigeria, is another testimony that Governor Akeredolu has a passion for education as a veritable vehicle for ensuring a glorious future for the state.

The Commissioner encouraged the beneficiaries to always reciprocate the government’s gesture and be good ambassadors of the state, while also supporting the governor in his commitment to transform the state.

Also, the Permanent Secretary, Ondo State Scholarship Board, Rev. Akin Asaniyan, applauded Governor Akeredolu for graciously approving the whopping sum for the students.

Asaniyan also said the governor has also provided the necessary logistics to upgrade the services of the State Scholarship Board to meet the global standard to ensure that the processes of scholarship and bursary awards are smooth and transparent.

In her remark, the President of the National Association of Ondo State Students, NAOSS, Comrade Mary Ogunga, on behalf of her colleagues, appreciated Governor Akeredolu for his uncommon love for students and youths in the state.

The NAOSS leadership also presented an Award of Excellence to the Governor in appreciation of his numerous achievements, especially his students friendly programmes.

Other awardees at the ceremony are Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Mr. Femi Agagu; Special Adviser to the Governor on Union Matters and Special Duties, Mr Dare Aragbaiye, among others.
