We’re ready for compulsory nose masks wearing – Ondo residents

As full implementation of compulsory use of nose masks begins today across Ondo state, residents of the state have expressed their readiness to fully comply with the government’s directive to prevent the spread of the deadly COVID-19.
Investigation by The Hope yesterday revealed that the people of the state irrespective of their status in the society are prepared and ready to comply with the mandatory use of the nose masks effective from today, Friday.
It would be recalled that the Governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu on Monday said the compulsory use of the nose masks for all residents would take effect from today Friday May 1 to stem the possible spread and community transmission of the Coronavirus in the state.
In the course of this investigation, The Hope came across the General Manager, Ondo State Consumers’ Protection Council (CPC), Ayo Mesileya and the Majority Leader, Ondo State House of Assembly, Jamiu Maito, already in nose masks.
They said they were aware of the directive, and that all their family members are fully prepared for the directive adding that they have already started using the nose masks
Mesileya appealed to all residents of the state to always support government and all precautionary measures to ensure safety and prevent the spread of the COVID-19.
“You can see that I wear my nose mask now. I have procured nose masks for my family members and we have been using them.
“So, we are fully ready and prepared for the compulsory use of the nose masks as directed by our Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu.
“It is important for everybody to comply because it is for our own good. We must support all government precautionary measures to prevent the spread of the deadly COVID-19 in the state.
“So, we see all government’s directives as beautiful, necessary and the best. It is for the safety of all and we must all support it”, the CPC General Manager emphasised.
On his part, Maito, a lawmaker representing Akoko Northwest Constituency 1, said everybody irrespective of his or her status in the society should comply with government directive to prevent further spread of the COVID-19 in the state, commending the state government for doing its best to protect the citizenry.
He said the decision of the government was in order considering the increasing cases of COVID-19 in the neighbouring states, adding that prevention is better than cure.
“Even though we stay at home we must stay safe and protected.”, Maito said.
The lawmaker applauded Governor Akeredolu for his readiness to distribute the nose masks to the people of the state, urging the people to always support government directive to combat the spread of COVID-19 in the state.
Other residents including Funmilola Elusakin, Emmanuel Oladeji, and Olukoju Abimbola, expressed their readiness to fully comply with government directive on compulsory use of the nose masks but appealed to government to make it available to them.
