We’re ready for football biz, Commissioner assures FIfA Licensed Agent

Ondo State Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Hon Saka Yusuf-Ogunleye has disclosed that the state football Agency (ODSFA) is open to serious football business.

Yusuf-Ogunleye stated this while hosting a Germany FiFA Licensed Agent, Francis Ogette in his office in Akure, the state capital.

He reiterated that the purpose of establishing Ondo State Football Agency was to discover and develop budding talents across the 18 local governments of the state.

He added that the era at which government will be investing money into the teams without getting tangible things in return has gone, saying he is ready to take advantage of the global trending football business for the prosperity of Ondo state.

He said: “Football is a big business which is beyond mere entertainment and we can’t be left out in the business, we are ready to make use of our big platform through our partnership with you, Mr Francis Ogette.”

“We have young, skillful and energetic players in Sunshine Stars U-17, even in the senior team who are sellable.”

Responding, the FIFA licensed Agent, Francis Ogette said he was elated with the disposition of the Commissioner , saying he has a very good vision for the players and the club.

He advised the Management of the teams to decide on their priorities and ensure they pursue it vigorously, adding that young players who are sellable should be injected into the team.

He stressed that the team’s priorities should be to sell players, saying lots of clubs within and outside the country are into the business which did not affect their results.

“Football business is different from other businesses, you must understand it and be ready to follow the trend, you must not be sentimental about it, and the moment you do other wise, you won’t get the desired result”.

“Money that is supposed to be circulating within Ondo State are being taken to other places because we didn’t understand the business very well”.

“I’m ready to work with the state government to discover, develop and sales of players”, he submitted.
