We’re transparent with funds – Osun Gov

Fisayo Akinduro, Osogbo
Osun State Governor, Gboyega Oyetola has described his administration as very transparent with funds, and does not toy with the welfare of workers and retirees.

The governor disclosed this while distributing retirement bond certificates under the Contributory Pension Scheme to its beneficiaries in Osogbo.

He disclosed that his administration released over One billion naira to 105 local government staff and 84 primary school teachers as beneficiaries.

According to the Governor, N474,753,14 goes to the local government staff while N538,696,783 goes to the primary teachers beneficiaries.

The Governor regretted that the economic meltdown is seriously hampering the presentation of the certificates at once.

He made it known that the rest will receive theirs very soon. He appealed for calm and patience on the part of those who are yet to benefit.

The Head of Service, Dr Olowogboyega Oyebade urged retirees not to despair or lose hope as the current administration is committed to paying all their entitlements.

The Permanent Secretary, Bureau of Local Government Staff Pension, Mr Kayode Afolabi noted that since the commencement of the contributory pension scheme, there have been tremendous achievements such as regular remittances into employees retirement savings account, funding of the redemption fund and settlement of death benefits of deceased contributors.

Afolabi appreciated Governor Oyetola for his support for the scheme even in the face of dearth of funds. He extended gratitude to the stakeholders in project particularly the Pension Fund Administrators.

Eight-nine retirees under the Contributory Pension Scheme benefitted from the N1.13 billion naira bond certificate.
