We’ve fortified our zone against kidnapping – AIG Oyebade

Worried by the spate of kidnappings and other crimes happening in the South West, especially Ondo Osun and Oyo states, the Assistant Inspector General of Police in Zone XI, AIG Adeleye Oyebade has deployed a tactical squad to confront the criminals.
The Zonal Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Adekunle Ajisebutu, a Superintendent of Police (SP) who made this known in a statement made available to The Hope said the tactical squad is made up of mobile policemen, operatives of Operation Puff Adder, Safer Highway Patrol and Intelligent Units of the zone.
He said the Inspector General of Police, Mr Mohammed Adamu has agreed to deploy a detachment of his intelligence response unit team to complement the existing security already put in place to contain kidnappers in the three states in the zone especially Ibadan Ife/Ilesha/ Akure expressway respectively.
According to the zonal spokesman, all identified flash points across the zone have been fortified with tight security.
While saying the three state governors have given their support to the police in the zone in their determination to flush out criminals. The zonal PPRO said the police will not rest until hoodlums operating in the area are brought to justice.
He assured travellers in the affected roads to continue going about their lawful and legitimate duties as they will meet heavy presence of security urging them not to panic saying all efforts is to end security challenges in the South West especially Ondo Oyo and Osun states.
He called on the general public to always use police distress and quick response mobile numbers to alert the police in case of any problem, especially on issues bordering on threat to lives and properties.
