Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu has declared that his administration has implemented several life changing policies for youths.

Akeredolu who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Mr Ifedayo Abegunde stated this while declaring open the sixth National Council of Youth Development and the inauguration of the revised National Youth Policy 2019-2023 in Akure.

He added that for these potentials to be fully unleashed we need to  create effective platform for them to pursue their vision, dreams, aspirations and concerns.

“It’s the realisation of the potentials and challenges of the youth population that make Ondo state to put in place all encompassing youth empowerment schemes that have created over fifty thousand jobs for them”

Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Mr Solomon Dalung while addressing the gathering said it is time to declare youth development a national security issue.

The Minister said the cost implication of investment in youths was minimal compared to the enormous resources the country had expended to mitigate the impact of youth exclusion on national peace and security.

Dalung thanked the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), for its resilience and dogged determination which  provided the fuel that drove the process, despite the challenges they encountered.

The Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports, Mr Olusade Adesola said the policy document, if appropriately implemented, would go a long way in addressing some challenges confronting youths in the country.

The Deji of Akure, Oba Aladetoyinbo Aladelusi, lauded the minister for advocating the promotion of culture and how to improve the welfare of Nigerian youths.
