The Chairman, Ondo State House of Assembly Committee on Information, Mr Fatai Olotu, has declared that the leadership crisis which rocked the hallowed chambers has finally been resolved.
He also emphasised that the Speaker of the Assembly, Mr Bamidele Oleyelogun remained the Speaker of the House and that nothing has changed in the leadership of the parliament.
The former deputy speaker disclosed this at the Assembly Complex shortly after the historic plenary sitting presided over by the Speaker, Bamidele Oleyelogun.
Oleyelogun reiterated that the welfare of members of the Assembly would continue to be paramount to his leadership.
Earlier, no fewer than 21 members of the Assembly had attended the Parliamentary meeting while few other members who could not attend the meeting were said to have sent in their apologies.
The plenary sitting was the first the aggrieved lawmakers would attend after the leadership crisis that erupted in the hallowed chambers over a month ago.
It would be recalled that there was a rowdy session on November 9, 2018, following the purported impeachment of the leaders of the Assembly. The crisis led to the partial relocation and abandonment of the House by the lawmaker.
Speaking after the plenary sitting, Olotu who is one of the leading figures in the crisis explained that the crisis is now over following the intervention of well-meaning Nigerians within and outside the state.
When asked about the court case instituted by the aggrieved lawmakers, the lawmaker noted that “to the best of my knowledge there is no case in court”, adding that there is no case in any of the courts in Nigeria.
He explained that initially they planned to go to court but they later shelved the idea after the intervention of imminent Nigerians.
Olotu disclosed that most of the issues that led to the crisis are being addressed by appropriate authority, adding that full legislative activities have resumed at the Assembly.
Responding, the Speaker of the House, Bamidele Oleyelogun said the plenary sitting attended by the lawmakers was an indication that normalcy has finally returned to the parliament.
He promised to continue to work for the improved welfare of all the lawmakers, and as well continue to offer purposeful leadership.
Oleyelogun explained further that most of the contentious issues which included official vehicles and constituency projects have been addressed by the state governor.
