White House wins 72nd Aquinas athletics competition

White House (Saint Thomas) has scored 174 points to emerge overall winner of the 72nd Anniversary Inter-House Athletics competition of Aquinas College, Akure.

Green House came second with 162 points in the Inter -House competition held at the College sports ground pavilion stadium.

While Red, Purple Blue and Yellow houses came 3rd,4th 5th 6th positions respectively with 143,135,119,103 points.

Yellow house was on top of others in the match past with 121 points to settle for first position , while Green House came second with 117, Blue House scored 105 to sit in fourth position and White , purple, Red scored 100,95 ,88 to maintain 4th,5th and 6th positions.

The Chairman of the 72nd edition, Babatunde Faro commended the planning committee for putting in place one of the best competitions in recent times.

He admonished the students to hold on to the tenet of the school which he said is hard work, team work, integrity and cheer excellence.

He said:”What you do today has bearing on what future holds for everyone, on this note I urge you all to be focus on your study.

The school has done well in this year’s edition and I’m optimistic that next year will be better.”

The principal of the School, Mr Jimbola Adebisi thanked God for the success of the inter- house sports competition, saying Aquinas is known for the best and the school will continue to push for the best.

He said: “Sports is part of education and I will advise the student to marry the two together because sports has also become means of earning a living for many youths.

We are number one in sports and there is no problem in upgrading the level, I will advise the students to push forward and upgrade the standard.

The highlight of the competition was the award of excellence conferred on some of the old students of the college. The awardees include: The Hope staff, Mr Olajide Stephen, Babatunde Faro, national president of the old students, retired Justice Adesuyi Olateru Olagbegi and many others.
