A political analyst, Pastor ldowu Akinrinlola, has declared that until leaders in the country see positions being occupied as opportunity to serve the people, their subjects would continue to remain as servants to them.
According to him, until electoral system is fixed in a way that fairness and equity are established in all democratic process through which all leaders emerge, the problem of electorate being servants to elected people would continue.
He stated this in an interview with The Hope yesterday.
Akinrinlola, who described electoral and democratic processes as a major problem stopping the nation from having good leadership said that Nigeria will better for it if this abnormality is corrected.
He added that until government is returned to the people by giving them absolute responsibility and sense of belongings to take decision, electorate will remain servants to their leaders.
He further explained that government can be returned to the people by giving them privilege devoid of vote-buying, thuggery and electoral malpractice to choose their choice leaders .
“Until leaders realize that they will accountable to people or constituents. Until they realize that their money will not work for them to win election and opinions of people count electorate will continue to be servants to leaders,” he said.
