Fresh facts have emerged on why a 45-year-old man, identified as Bankole Oginni, arrested by the men of the Ondo State Police Command for allegedly killing his ex-lover and dissecting her stomach.
Oginni, who is under interrogation, explained to detectives at the Ondo State police Command headquarters in Akure, what transpired between him and the deceased.
Recall the suspect, allegedly committed the crime at his residence in Danjuma area, Akure, after inviting the victim to his house.
The suspect was reported to have tied the deceased’s hands with rope and poured hot water on her body.
According to The Hope Metro, the suspect was caught red-handed when the deceased was traced to his house after she failed to return home on Saturday and her line was unreachable.
Speaking on the death of his ex-lover, Oginni denied being responsible for the deceased’s death. But he confessed to opening her stomach to remove her intestines so as to dispose her remains without any suspicion.
Oginni, in his statement explained that the victim sought financial help from him, and he asked her to visit his family home to get the money.
He said,”the deceased called me on Saturday that she needed my help, being my ex-lover and I asked her to come to my daddy’s house.
“Anytime she’s in need of money, being my ex-lover, I would ask her to come to my daddy’s house. And the moment she got there on the fateful day, I offered her a chilled soft drink I bought from a cosmetics shop.
“I bought two bottles and I offered her one. But she had not taken the drink when she suddenly collapsed and died instantly.
“When she slumped, I did not know what to do. So I decided to pour her hot water with the hope that she would wake up.”
Overwhelmed by anxiety, the suspect said he resorted to dousing her with hot water in a desperate move to resuscitate her.
“After all attempts to revive her failed, out of panic, I ripped her stomach to remove her intestines so as to reduce the size of her remains in sack.
“I tied her hands and cut her so that I could throw her away,” he narrated.
Explaining how he sustained wounds on his mouth, head and legs, he said when her brother and some sympathizer, got to his house, they angrily attacked him.
According to a police source, Oginni would be charged to court soon.
Meanwhile, the management of the Ondo State Sports Council (OSSC) has disclaimed Oginni as a staff of the organisation.
The General Manager of the council, Mr Henry Babatunde who stated this in a chat with The Hope Metro, stated that the alleged killer did not have any link with the organisation.
He said, “Sports Council did not have any football team participating in any competition either U-13, – 15 -17 and at all categories of tournaments.
“I have called all the coaches in the council to ask if there is any relationship between them and the man, they said they didn’t know him. So, he is not our staff.
” We urge the people of Ondo State and the country at large to disregard any statement credited to him which might have linked him with our organization.
“Ondo State Sports Council is a state owned organisation. We have our staff payroll and you can’t see his name on our staff list.
“We have never engaged him either as part time, temporary or full staff.”
