The Publicity Committee of the Ondo Development (ODC), in charge of the 2018 Ekimogun Festival, yesterday announced the cancellation of the 31st edition of the annual celebration scheduled to hold in December 8, 2018.
The statement was contained in a press release signed by the Chairman of the publicity sub-committee of the organisation, Alhaji Yemi Adewetan, and made available to The Hope Metro.
It was gathered that the annual celebrated festival which usually gathers sons and daughters of Ondo kingdom, both home and in diaspora will not hold this year, following the death of the Chairman of ODC and Past National Planning chairman, Chief Ope Bademosi.
The Hope Metro learnt that Bademosi, was the chairman of the Association of Ondo Clubs in Lagos, the Chairman of the Credit Switch Technology and also the chairman of ODC, socio-cultural organisation in the town, until his untimely death.
The Ondo Development Committee confirmed that the deceased was gruesomely murdered last week by his cook.
The release stated that the ODC group described the murder as callous and terrible act, that has thrown all concerned citizens into turmoil, worsened by hearsay and innuendos on the social media.
According to the release, the cancellation of the festival was announced by the ODC after taking approval of the Osemawe-in-council.
It therefore urged all sons, daughters and well wishers to continue to pray for the peace, progress, and harmony in Ondo kingdom.
