Why we joined APC- Oluboyo, Johnson, Awodeyi, others

The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), in Ondo state has harvested many political heavy weights from the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), including the former deputy Governor, Alhaji Lasisi Oluboyo.

Oluboyo, alongside many founding fathers and leaders of the PDP, including the pioneer State Chairman of the party Col. Samuel Awodeyi (retd); former Commissioner in the state, Chief Olabisi Johnson; one time Commissioner, Mr. Taye Akinyele; Fasua Oyeleye, six former Council Chairmen, with their supporters from the 18 local government areas of the state defected to the APC at a mega rally held at the MKO Abiola Democracy Park, Akure, to mark Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu’s third anniversary.

The carnival like mega, rally had in attendance top government officials, party leaders and members.

Also, at the event all the leadership of African Democratic Congress (ADC), in the state formerly collapsed their party into the APC.

In their separate remarks, the defectors attributed their reasons for joining the ruling APC to the various monumental development Governor Akeredolu-led administration has brought to the state in just three years in office, noting that they were happy with his achievements so far.

Oluboyo and Johnson said they  joined the APC to add value, adding that they are not ready to join any faction but work with the governor and the state leadership of the APC under the Chairman, Ade Adetimehin, to collectively move the state to the next level of greatness.

The defectors particularly applauded Governor Akeredolu for what they described as unprecedented infrastructural development, massive road construction, industrialization, improved welfare of workers, improved health care facilities, agricultural development, among others

Receiving the defectors into the APC, the state Chairman of the party, Ade Adetimehin, assured them of all rights and privileges accorded the old members.

Adetimehin also revealed that the former Deputy Governor and other PDP leaders were bringing on board about 10, 000 members across the 18 local government areas of the state. This is even as he assured them of fairness and equity in the affairs of the party.

Speaking at the event, the state Governor,  Akeredolu, told the new members that they would not be discriminated against, stressing that there is enough space for them to achieve their heart desires.

The governor explained that with the calibre of the new members, the party would continue to grow in leap and bound in the state, and would coast to victory in the forthcoming poll.

He appreciated the people of the state for supporting the present government in the last three years, just as he solicited for more of such to enable him do more for the state.
