Why we remain Best State University — AAUA VC

The vice Chancellor of Adekunle Ajasin University Akungba-Akoko, Prof. Olugbenga Ige, has stressed that the University is steadfastly committed to remaining one of the best universities in the world.
While addressing journalists in Akure as part of activities lined up for the institution’s convocation ceremony, the VC said the foremost University in Ondo State remains the best state university in Nigeria due to its commitment to excellence.
Prof. Ige said the school supports students through its dedicated Students’ Support Center, through which various forms of assistance is rendered to the students, including scholarships, financial aid and discounted fees to students with disabilities.
He said, “our University actively encourages our students to hone their skills, particularly in sports, entertainment and artistic performances, yielding gratifying outcomes.”
He boasted that graduates of AAUA, irrespective of their class of honours, can compete favourably with their counterparts from other institutions in Nigeria and abroad.
Prof. Ige reiterated that the University remained committed to enhancing the integrity and quality of its academic programmes through continuous staff training, reinvention of programmes and establishment of a broad research agenda.
To meet international practices, the VC said AAUA continues to partner and network with universities locally and abroad.
He added, “We have extended our collaborations with reputable foreign organisations and universities, including the China-Africa Partnership Institute Exchange Programme, the Ministry of Science and Technology of the People’s Republic of China focusing on Research Collaboration in Green Technology and Ghent University Belgium.
“Discussions on collaboration are ongoing with the University of Toledo, Ohio, USA, University of Aberdeen, University of Birmingham and Arden University in the United Kingdom, among others,” he explained.
While speaking on the integration of technology in the University’s operations, the VC said, “technological advancements have significantly enhanced our university’s service delivery, ensuring a seamless and efficient experience for our students and staff.”
He said the Best State University in Nigeria enjoys alumni collaboration and support, calling for more alumni involvement.
“Our pursuit of excellence knows no bounds, and our ambition is not only to be the best in Nigeria but also to secure a prominent place on the international pedestal.
He declared that graduate of the institution are equipped with essential skills including entrepreneural competencies that would have significant contributions to the nation’s economy.
“We are steadfast in our commitment to the vision of the founder founders, to build a first class university in research l, knowledge l, character and service to humanity,” the VC concluded.
He said 5,249 students from the 2020/2021 academic session will graduate from the University, of which 42 bagged First Class.
