The Director, Directorate of Gender and Sustainable Development ( DDGSD), Adeyemi Federal University of Education (AFUED), Ondo, Dr. (Mrs) Omolara Awe, has stated that her directorate’s decision to pay a courtesy visit to the office of the State Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development in Akure was meant to seek areas of cooperation and collaboration.

Awe made the statement when she led a team from the DDGSD to the headquarters of the Ministry in Akure, the state capital.

While commending the Ondo state government for contributions made by the ministry to women’s development in the state, Dr. Awe said her directorate would be interested in collaborating with the ministry, in the crusade aimed at reducing Gender-based violence in the state.

She also hinted that the visit was in response to a directive received from the Acting Deputy Vice Chancellor of AFUED, Dr. Samuel Akintunde, that the Director of DDGSD in the institution,  seek support and synergy with relevant government agencies on ways by which the objectives of the Directorate could be achieved.

The AFUED  DDGSD used the occasion to inform the Ministry of the plan being mulled by the university to introduce new courses, which include Gender Studies, Social Work, Education, Human Rights, and Security Studies.
