Winners emerge @ maiden2023 DOSS competition

Winners have emerged at the maiden edition of Bamidele Ologun street soccer competition tagged: DOSS 2023 in Akure North.

Ayetoro street defeated College Road Boys 1-0 to emerge winner in Iju Quarters of the maiden edition of the 2023 DOSS street soccer competition.

African Tete street FC crushed Akomowa street FC 3-2 in a penalty shoot to be crowned champion of Ita ogbolu quarters.

People United By Sports (PUBS) had organised the two days five aside street soccer as part of efforts to take football development closer to the grassroots and also to unearth raw talents abounds in the two quarters.

The five aside competition played at Saint Michael Primary school,Iju Akure North had six streets registered in Iju quarters.

In Iju Itaogbolu quarters, four street slugged it out at Saint John Primary school, Ita ogbolu, Akure North. Before African Tete street were crowned champions.

Sunshine Stars Team Manager who is also the President of PUBS, Seun Betiku, in a chat with newsmen congratulated the winners for their hard work.

He commended the Ondo State Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development Mr Bamidele Ologunloluwa who is the host of the street soccer for his support to ensure the success of the competition.

Betiku disclosed that the competition was put together in the name of the commissioner with the primary aim of discovering talents ahead of the Nigeria Premier League Football League under 17 competition.

He said nine players have been selected from the participating teams in the DOSS street soccer, saying their selection was not automatic as they will still compete with players from other local governments.

He admonished the selected players not to relent on their training and ensure they remain focus on their careers.

Iju youth leader, Ogundeji Jimoh Ayodeji thanked the organisers and the sponsor, Commissioner for youth and Sports Development Mr Bamidele Ologunloluwa for remembering them in a time like this.

Winners and the first runners ups were presented with cash prizes, while the semifinalists went home with bibs.
