Residents of Oke-Osun area Ikere-Ekiti, headquarters of Ikere Local Government area of Ekiti State, were at the weekend thrown mourning, following the death of a 52-year-old woman, who was said to have slumped and died after she was laced with thunderbolt by her husband.

The Hope Metro reliably gathered that the deceased, a mother of two and wife of a Pastor of a white-garmernt church in the town, suddenly became unconscious, shortly after she returned from the market on the fateful day.

Though, the cause of the unfortunate incident is still sketchy as at the time of filing the report, it was gathered from a source close to  the family said that the victim had many times been accused of infidelity by her husband who is also a cleric in the community.

The source added that the accusation generated serious arguments within the family, while several interventions by elders and leaders in the church to broker peace among  the couples  proved abortive, as the cleric insisted that his wife was having an affair with someone in the community.

The source who is also a prominent member of the church, added that the pastor was alleged to have laced his wife with thunderbolt, popularly called (Magun) in local parlance, apparently to prove his accusation against the wife.

He added that all interventions by members of the church to settle the matter  failed to yield positive result, as the cleric insisted on proving the allegation.

Trouble, however, started on the fateful day when the deceased complained of serious illness, after she was reportedly laced with thunderbolt by her husband.

The deceased’s body is still in the morgue of a health facility in the town.

Prior to the incident, she was said to have raised an alarm that her husband had threatened to lace her with thunderbolt, few weeks ago.

When contacted, the Ekiti State Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Sunday Abutu, confirmed the receipt of the matter.

Abutu explained that the matter is currently being investigated at the Homicide Section of the Ekiti State Police Command.
