Woman charged for obstructing arrest

A 29-year-old woman, Bosede Akomolafe has been dragged before the Chief Magistrates’ Court in Ondo town, for obstructing and preventing the arrest of one Ebenezer Akomolafe.
The police brought Akomolafe before the court on Friday for committing the offence of preventing him knowing fully well that he stole items valued at N245,000.
The defendant who is now facing one- count charge bothering on obstruct of arrest, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge preferred against her.
The defendant was said to have committed the offence April 7,2018 at about 10:00am at Morayo street, Ayeyemi Ondo, contrary to and punishable under section 126(1) of the Criminal code cap 37 volume 1 laws of Ondo State of Nigeria 2006.
The charge sheet read in part,”That you, Bosede Akomolafe on April 7, 2019, at about 10:00am at Morayo street, Ayeyemi, Ondo, in the Ondo Magisterial District did obstruct and prevented the arrest of one Ebenezer Akomolafe, knowing fully well that he stole some items valued at N245,000, property of one Paul Olakunle and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under section 126(1) of the Criminal Code, Cap 37, Volume 1 Laws of Ondo State of Nigeria, 2006.
The police prosecutor, Sgt. Adebiyi Abiodun, who told the court that he would be calling two witnesses to testify in the case, applied for a date to enable him study the case file.
Lawyer for the defendants, Segun Olopele applied for the bail of the defendant in most liberal terms.
The presiding Magistrate, Mr Damilola Sekoni, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N200,000 with one surety in like sum.
He adjourned the case till April 11, 2019 for trial.
