Woman in court for alleged burglary, theft

A 26-year old woman, Patience Adie, has been arraigned before an Odigbo Chief Magistrates’ Court, over alleged stealing of clothes worth N500,000.
Men of the Ondo State Police command arraigned the defendant before Chief Magistrate Festus Akinlolu, on a three-count charge bordering on burglary and stealing.
According to the prosecution, the defendant committed the offence on November 9, 2024, at about 9:00pm at Igbo Camp, Ore.
The prosecutor, Inspector James Usifoh told the court that the defendant and others at large broke into the house of one Grace Adama with intent to commit felony.
He also alleged that the defendant and others at large stole clothes valued at N500,000, property of one Adama Grace.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the counts when the charge was read to her.
Usifoh, therefore, prayed for an adjournment to enable him study the case file and prepare his witnesses for trial.
The defence counsel, Mr Rufus Omotayo, did not oppose the prosecutor’s application. But he prayed the court to grant his client bail in most liberal terms.
Chief Magistrate Festus Akinlolu admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties, in like sum and adjourned the case till December 20, 2024 for mention.
