Woman in court for allegedly pouring hot water on neighbour

For allegedly pouring hot water on her neighbour during a disagreement, a 25-year old woman, Busayo Temilola, has been arraigned before a Chief Magistrate’s Court sitting in Akure.
The defendant and the victim, one Olusola Abayomi, both residents of Ijo Mimo Street, Ijoka Road, Akure, reportedly got into a heated argument which degenerated into a fight, and in the process, Temilola emptied a pot of boiling water on the victim, scarring his face and parts of her own body.
Temilola was arraigned on a two-count charge of assault and causing grievous harm.
According to the prosecutor, Nelson Akintimehin told the court that the defendant committed the offence on May 22, 2025 at their residence in Akure.
“She poured a pot of hot water on the victim’s face, which splashed on his chest and caused him permanent injury.’’
Akintimehin told the court.
The prosecutor added that the offences contravened Sections 338 335 and 169 of the Criminal Law of Ondo State, 2006.
When the charges were read to the accused, she pleaded not guilty.
Chief Magistrate Sunday Adedapo, granted her bail in the sum of N350,000, with one surety in like sum and adjourned the case till July 7, for trial.
