Woman in court over N1m fraud

A woman, Oyinade Fasuyi, has been arraigned before an Ile-Ife Magistrate Court for allegedly defruading a cooperative society of N1 million.

The prosecutor, Inspector Sunday Osanyintuyi, told the court that the accused person with the intention to defraud, obtained a credit loan of N1 million from Otitoinu Cooperative Society which she belonged to in December 20, 2016 at No 5, Orilonise St., Ile-Ife.

He added that Fasuyi maliciously broke the contract of being a member of Otitoinu by obtaining N1m loan, which she failed to pay back.

According to him, the accused person caused severe ill health to some of the members when she failed to return the money.

The accused person pleaded not guilty to the three-count charge bordering on fraud, contrary to sections 305, 383, 390(9) and 419 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Osun, 2002.

Counsel who appeared for her , Mr Sunday Olagbaju, applied for the bail of his client in most liberal terms, pledging that she would not jump bail.

Magistrate Olukunle Owolawi granted the accused person bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum and adjourned till August 5, 2019.
