Woman in court over N4m fraud

A 36-year-old woman, has been dragged before a Chief Magistrate Court 1, sitting in Okitipupa over N4 million fraud.
The accused person, Maris Kolawole, a trader, was brought before Magistrate M.Al-Yunus on a six count charge ranging from conspiracy to illegal conversion.
He was alleged of conspiring together with one at large to fraudulently obtain and convert a sum of three million, one hundred and eighty-five thousand naira(3,185,000) from one Rev. Ranti Joseph to their personal use.
He had also reportedly obtained a sum of one million, two hundred thousand naira (1,120,000) , from another victim, Mr. Ogunfuyi Dickson, on the ground of supplying them a Toyota Bus and Toyota Corolla Car respectively.
According to the charge, she and one other person at large committed this offence on the May 16, 2019 at about 7:30am at Okitipupa Igbokoda Road and this contravened; section 516, 419,384, 516,390(8), and 419 of the Criminal Code Cap 37 Vol. 1 Laws of Nigeria 2006.
With tears, Maris however pleaded not guilty to the charge brought against her.
The prosecutor , Zedekiah Orogbemi , told the court that he intended calling four witnesses of which three were in court , but he prayed the court for a short date to enable him study the case file .
Counsel to the defendant, John Bobola, did not object to the prayers of the prosecutor, but prayed the court to grant his defendant bail.
Orogbemi opposed the bail application , alleging that the defendant would jump bail.
He told the court that she was arrested at Ibafo, in Ogun State after being tracked by the intelligence Unit of the Police.
