Woman pours hot water on friend’s daughter in Kano

A woman identified as Jamila has been accused of dousing her friend’s daughter, Fatima Sani, with hot water, leaving her with severe burns and peeling skin.
The incident took place in Unguwa Uku, within Tarauni Local Government Area of Kano State.
Reports indicate that the altercation arose from a disagreement over a task Jamila had assigned to Fatima—to monitor her daughter’s activities in the neighbourhood.
Speaking to Daily Post, Fatima recounted that she had informed Jamila about her daughter’s continued conversations in the area despite being warned. This disclosure led to a confrontation between Fatima and Jamila’s daughter, culminating in Jamila allegedly pouring hot water on both girls.
Fatima disclosed that Jamila’s daughter also sustained burns and is currently receiving treatment in hospital.
Her grandmother, Safiya Sulaiman, expressed distress over the ordeal, revealing that Fatima suffered burns on her face and back.
“We have no personal issues with this woman apart from being neighbours. We are calling on the authorities to ensure that justice is served,” she said.
Jamila is presently in police custody. However, attempts to obtain her response were unsuccessful as investigations are ongoing.
The spokesperson for the Kano State Police Command, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, stated that he was yet to receive a report on the matter but assured that the case would be investigated and updates provided in due course.
