An Akure Chief Magistrates’ Court has remanded a 42-year-old mother of two, Feyisayo Adegoke, for alleged fraud.
The defendant allegedly committed the offence sometimes in June, 2021 at 11:00am in Akure, Ondo State.
The prosecutor, Augustine Omhenimhen, informed the court that the defendant conspired to obtain money under false pretence and destroyed the evidence.
He said the defendant and others at large destroyed the visa by removing sticker/stamp on the international passport which was required as evidence in a judicial proceeding.
The offence committed contravened Sections 516 and 123 of the Criminal Code, Cap. 37, Volume. 1, Laws of Ondo State Nigeria, 2006.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the offence.
The prosecutor, prayed for an adjournment to enable him go through the case file.
And the defence counsel, B.O. Agudo, prayed the court to grant his client bail in most liberal term.
In his ruling, Magistrate O.l Ogunmoyela, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum.
The defendant could not meet the bail conditions, hence she was remanded at Ondo Correctional Centre.
The case was adjourned till July 6, 2023 for hearing.
