Two women, Oluwaseun Olasunkanmi and Faith Ige, have been arraigned before an Akure Magistrate’s Court for allegedly assaulting and stripping a female neighbour over suspicion of infidelity.

The incident, which occurred within their residential neighbourhood, followed a misunderstanding linked to Oluwaseun’s husband, who is said to be a commercial driver.

According to the defence counsel, A.M. Akimbola, the first defendant, Oluwaseun allegedly found the complainant’s phone number on her husband’s phone and suspecting an extramarital affair, conspired with Faith Ige to confront the woman.

The confrontation reportedly turned violent, resulting in the complainant being physically assaulted and stripped in the public.

However, further revelations showed that the complainant had merely engaged Mr. Olasunkanmi to help transport a mattress from the market to her home, during which their contact was exchanged.

It was gathered that the complainant sustained injuries from the attack and had since relocated from the community due to alleged threats issued by Oluwaseun and her husband.

The complainant who refused to settle the matter out of court, sought redress through legal means, citing physical assault and continuous harassment.

The two defendants appeared in court on Monday, May 13, 2025, for a preliminary hearing.

The Magistrate adjourned the case till July 1, 2025, for continuation of hearing.
